Easton CC is an “itch scratcher” kind of golf course. When you walk off the 18th hole, you’ll feel like you had a sufficient challenge with a fair chance at shooting a good score. It’ll scratch the itch and get each of your clubs dirty.

The course is flat and fairly open, making for an easy walk. If you hate blind shots, then Easton CC is the place for you.

The best part of Easton CC are the options off the tee. It’s short enough (6300 yards from the blues) that players can plot their way around if they’d like or hit driver a lot. Holes 3 and 10 are probably the two holes where driver would stay in the bag, as water comes into play.

On the front nine, holes 7 and 8 are a great combo. Seven is a tough tee shot, and the green is sloped severely from back to front, making the second shot important. Then, the 8th is a wide-open short par 4 with a cross-bunker lurking for anyone who wants to try and hit close to the green. The holes complement each other nicely.

The closing four holes at Easton CC are a big reason this course scratches the golf itch. 10-14 are a touch bland, but then 15, a tree-lined par 4 with a tough green, grabbed my attention.

16 is the shortest par 3, but it requires distance control.

17 is a beastly par 4. It’s the closest thing to a blind shot on the course if a player wants to cut the corner.

18 brings you home with a 420-yard par 4. Good scores can get destroyed on those last four holes.

The par 3s were good, but as a set, they all measure close to the same distance. The wind impacted the clubs I hit into those greens, but on a calm day, it might be all mid-irons.

One thing that Easton CC has to deal with is wet spots. With such a flat course, drainage is tough, so you can end up in some soggy spots or lose embeded balls. The greens were lush and rolled true, but they were a touch slow.

In a pinch, Easton CC is a good option for golf. It’s not going to wow you, but it will make you think and hit good shots throughout the round. It’s the epitome of a local public course. Comfortable and playable.
